I have always loved sharing recipes with others so when I heard about this recipe swap I was excited to participate. The theme this time was burgers and sandwiches and I was assigned the Cuban burger from Cheese Curd in Paradise. I loved this recipe. The flavors were super fresh and the burgers took no time at all to prepare. Plus, I pretty much love anything that includes lime. I did forget to turn on my broiler so I didn't get my cheese melted, but I will definitely remember that for next time. Because...there will be a next time!
Cuban Burger
Source: Closet Cooking via Cheese Curd in Paradise
Ingredients:
1 1/2 lb ground pork
1/2 tsp cumin
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tsp fresh oregano, chopped (or dried)
1/2 tsp lime zest
1 1/2 tsp fresh lime juice
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
4 tsp mayo
4 tsp yellow mustard
4 sliced smoked ham
4 sliced swiss cheese (or provolone)
pickles (omitted since I didn't have any)
4 hard hamburger buns
Directions:Mix the garlic, lime juice, lime zest, oregano, cumin, salt and pepper into the pork. Form the pork into 4 patties about 3/4 of an inch thick. Broil (or grill) the burgers until cooked, about 5-6 minutes per side. Top with ham and swiss and place under broiler till cheese is melted (about 1-2 minutes). Place burgers on buns and top with mayo, mustard, and pickles.Pin It
